Testimonial from Arden Automotive

“We have used Davenports for the printing of our business cards. They have given us very prompt service and turnaround is very good, making up for our lack of planning! The quality of the double sided cards is very professional.” - John Pick, Director

Arden Automotive approached Davenports with two separate business card jobs. Although the customer already had artwork in place, Davenports retouched the artwork to improve the final print quality.

Davenports produced two sets of 1,000 business cards printed full colour both sides onto 400gsm matt card, then matt laminated both sides and delivered the cards to the customer.

Helping SMEs through the Credit Crunch

The hardest job for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly in the current economic climate, is managing their cash flow.

Davenports now offer an invoicing service to all their clients, allowing their clients to concentrate on bringing in the money, whilst Davenports focus on getting the invoices out.

The service is not as expensive as you might first have thought, for a small flat fee per invoice Davenports will raise the invoice and either post it out or email it direct to the client’s customer.  The fee also includes the invoice being entered directly into the client’s accounts, preventing the need for double entry and associated bookkeeping fees.

For more about Davenports services or how they can assist you during the credit crunch why not contact us today.

untitled 3 300x283 Princes Trust: 10K and 4K Family Fun RunYouth charity The Prince’s Trust helps change young lives in the UK. It gives practical and financial support, developing skills such as confidence and motivation. It works with 14-30 year olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.

During the past thirty two years, the organisation has helped over half a million young people and last year supported 3,200 in the South East alone.

The Prince’s Trust is Davenport’s Nominated Charity for 2007 - 2008, and on Sunday 12th October, the fourth Prince’s Trust 10K and 4K Family Fun Run will start at LEGOLAND, Windsor. The 4K Family Fun Run will take place within LEGOLAND’s Miniland area, where children will run or walk past new London model landmarks such as Canary Wharf and the Gherkin. The 10K run will be through the stunning ancient Crown Estate forests of Highstanding Hill Woods, which is not normally accessible to the public. The event in 2006 was a great success and this year, with ChampionChip timing, they intend to make this even better still!

Use of Premises

September 23, 2008 by Scott

For many self-employed people the home has a dual role.  It is where you live and also where you carry on some or all of your business. Even if you carry on most of your business elsewhere, you are still entitled to a claim a taxable deduction for the part of the house that is solely used for business purposes.

Many of the bills for household expenses cover both business and private use. For example, you’ll probably get only one electricity bill, but will use it both privately and for business.  A single bill does not mean that the whole of the expense is disallowable for tax.  Part of the expense will be related to your business and therefore, tax deductible.

Not all expenses are allowable, such as business entertaining, and what is allowable depends on the particular facts.  These facts will include the extent and nature of the business activities undertaken in the home.

Costs
Some costs relate to the whole house, and even if there is no business use, will have to be paid; these include Council Tax, mortgage interest, insurance, water rates, general repairs and rent.  These are know as fixed costs, there will also be some running costs and they will include cleaning, heat and light, metered water, telephone and broadband.  The total bill for these running costs may vary with the amount of business use.

Davenports will help to ensure you pay the correct amount of tax and claim for what you are entitled to, for more information about tax returns and business accounts please contact us.
