TURN stands for “Trader’s Unique Reference Number”.  It is a number required by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to allow importers and exporters to obtain Customs clearance via the CHIEF (Customs Handling or Import and Export Freight) system.  Use of a TURN relates only to trade with countries outside the European Union.

What’s changed?

Customs Information Paper (CIP) (09) 02 outlines the change of address and fax number of the TURN team from 6 February 2009.
