Having posted my VAT return on time, as always, and checking daily that the cheque has been cashed . Today 15/12 I have contacted the VAT office and have been advised they have not received, they assure me the postcode BX55AT is correct but having seen your article I am not sure. I now have to resend - think I will use both postal codes then it might get there!

Thanks for the information

Dear Kristin,

Many thanks for taking the time to get in touch with us.

We have updated the postcode in this article to BD98 1YY, which is the new address, and have written a new article about the issue at http://www.davenportenterprises.co.uk/hmrc-vs-royal-mail.

Thanks again, and we hope to see you on the site soon.

I work in my local Post Office and today (28/10/2008) I had a customer who wanted to send their VAT return back by Special Delivery for which we are required to log the postcode and first line of the address and your new postcode BX5 5AT comes up as an invalid postcode. I thought I would let you know because if no one tells you you will not know. Perhaps you should contact Royal Mail and ask them to address this.
