Filed under Artwork Reworking, Business Cards, Testimonials

Arden Automotive is a busy car repair and MOT service. They use Davenports to simplify the printing and delivery of their business cards, allowing them to focus on their business.
Testimonial from Arden Automotive
“We have used Davenports for the printing of our business cards. They have given us very prompt service and turnaround is very good, making up for our lack of planning! The quality of the double sided cards is very professional.” - John Pick, Director
Arden Automotive approached Davenports with two separate business card jobs. Although the customer already had artwork in place, Davenports retouched the artwork to improve the final print quality.
Davenports produced two sets of 1,000 business cards printed full colour both sides onto 400gsm matt card, then matt laminated both sides and delivered the cards to the customer.

Case Study: Bourton Mill

As a busy health and leisure club situated in the heart of Oxford, Bourton Mill needs to concentrate on what it does best - looking after the health of its members. So when it comes to print and design, Bourton Mill use Davenports’ services to produce business cards, flyers, posters and templates.
Testimonial from Bourton Mill
“We have found Davenports very fast, efficient, and professional. The quality of the posters and leaflets we have had has been excellent, together with the very competitive prices. The aftercare service has also been very good. We will continue to use Davenports for all our marketing needs, knowing that we will always receive excellent service.” - Gavin Peck, Bourton Mill Oxford.
Promotional Cards and Poster
Bourton Mill used Davenports to produce cards to advertise the club and a special deal they were running for corporate customers.
Davenports advised the club to use a business card-sized design so that receivers could place the card safely in their wallet along with other business cards they would receive.
To impress potential corporate customers, Davenports printed a run of 1000 cards, which were printed full colour both sides onto 400gsm matt card, then matt laminated both sides.
The client provided Davenports with the company’s logo, and we produced a design that kept with their corporate image.

To complement the cards, Davenports also created a poster to be displayed. The posters were printed full colour one side onto 130gsm gloss art paper.
We also created an easy-to-use PowerPoint template for Bourton Mill to use when creating their own copies of the poster, allowing them to amend the details as necessary and reprint the poster when quality is not an issue.
A0 Promotional Poster
Davenports printed three A0 posters (841mm x 1189mm) from artwork supplied by Bourton Mill. The job included modifying the artwork to make it suitable for printing at this size.
The posters were printed onto 160gsm matt paper and encapsulated in 5 thou film (the difference between lamination and encapsulation is that encapsulation creates a seal around the edges, meaning that dust and other contaminants will not appear inside the poster cover).

We also created a landscape version of the poster at the request of the client:
A5 Flyers
Bourton Mill used Davenports to produce flyers to advertise the club from artwork supplied by the client.
We reworked the artwork, which was supplied in Microsoft Publisher format unsuitable for printing.
The A5 flyers were printed full colour, double sided onto 170gsm matt paper. The total lead time on the job was five days!

Case Study: Anne Measures Logo
September 17, 2008 by Davenports

Anne Measures runs a successful complementary health business. As part of an expansion, Davenports created a logo for the company that reflects its beliefs and ethos.
Anne is highly qualified and trusted by her clients, and she uses her name as a sign of trust, recognition and care. We wanted the logo to be easily recognisable by clients so, rather than using a newly-created company name, we used Anne’s name as the only wording in the logo.
Using a soft font with no capital letters brings a sense of friendliness and warmth to this very personal brand.
As a complementary health business, Davenports consulted with Anne and chose the idea of the Chakra wheel as representing the whole range of complementary therapies. A chakra is a center of activity that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. The word chakra literally translates as wheel or disk and refers to a spinning sphere of bioenergetic activity. The use of this imagery and association creates a powerful logomark.
A simple yet dynamic rounded rectangle was chosen as the symbol for a chakra to differentiate Anne from other businesses using chakras in its imagery. One rectangle is used for each chakra, and they are coloured traditionally in rainbow colours, which also represents the all-encompassing range of complementary therapies.
Highlights and shadows were added to the logo to bring added depth and energy to the final image.
